Membership Information


The Kentucky Council for Children with Behavior Disorders (KYCCBD) is a subdivision of the Council for Children with Behavior Disorders (CCBD) and the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC). Membership in each of these organizations offers a number of exciting resources, opportunities and benefits.

Council for Exceptional Children (CEC)

Journals:

  • Exceptional Children: a professional journal publishing original research articles on issues of concern to special educators.
  • Teaching Exceptional Children: a practitioners journal publishing articles on practical methods and materials for teachers of children with disabilities and children who are gifted.

Resources:


Members receive frequent offers to obtain cutting edge publications regarding theory and practice related to children with disabilities.

Professional Development Opportunities:


CEC sponsors a number of important conferences every year. Members receive valuable discounts on registration fees.

Advocacy:


CEC is at the forefront of advocacy efforts in national issues related to children with disabilities.

Divisions:


As a member of CEC, you can join and participate in any of the 17 divisions.

Member Group Benefits:


The CEC offers a wide array of valuable member benefits, including liability insurance, discount credit cards, and life insurance.

Council for Children with Behavior Disorders (CCBD)

Journals and Newsletters:

  • Behavioral Disorders: a professional journal publishing original research articles on issues of concern to teachers of children with behavior disorders.
  • Beyond Behavior: a practitioners journal publishing articles on methods, materials, and issues related to children with behavior disorders.
  • CCBD Newsletter: published 6 times a year, the newsletter keeps members of CCBC up-to-date on national initiatives, federal regulations, and professional development opportunities of interest to teachers of children with behavior disorders.

Professional Development Opportunities:


Aside from timely updates regarding valuable training opportunities, members receive reduced registration rates on most conferences.

Advocacy:


CCBD is proud to be at the forefront in advocating for children with behavior disorders on matters of national significance. As a member of CCBD, you add your voice to these crucial efforts.

Kentucky Council for Children with Behavior Disorders

As a member of CEC and CCBD, you will automatically become a member of your state's CCBD subdivision. If you are a resident of Kentucky, you will be enrolled as a member of KYCCBD. KYCCBD offers a number of important opportunities for teachers and other professionals in Kentucky who work with children with behavior disorders.

KYCCBD Newsletter:


Published 4 times a year, the newsletter keeps members of KYCCBD up-to-date on developments within the state of interest to teachers of children with behavior disorders.

Professional Development Opportunities:


Members will be alerted to training opportunities specific to the state of Kentucky, including our own nationally recognized Summer Institute.

Advocacy:


KYCCBD is active in advocating for the educational rights of children with behavior disorders in the state of Kentucky. As a member of KYCCBD, you can have a hands-on role in determining important statewide initiatives.

Joint Membership Option

What’s Joint Membership?

Joint membership is still an option. Any two people who wish to join together can do so. The cost for this option is $131.00(CEC) and $22.00(each for CCBD). Only one member will receive the publications but each member will have their own member number. If a co-member wants to join a separate division that member will receive the separate division’s publication.
